The Playdate, a weird yellow handheld with a crank, is finally getting some new information on June 8th, its manufacturer, Panic Inc., announced today.

A presentation focusing on the handheld will air on June 8th at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, which will detail new information on the gadget, including information on how to pre-order the device. But Panic says that pre-orders will not start immediately after the presentation’s conclusion and promises to give fans a heads up before it’s time for orders to go live.

Alongside an announcement of a Playdate update video presentation for early next week, the manufacturer also confirmed some new information for the handheld, including a new retail price of $179, a $30 increase from its initial price reveal.

However, its first “season” of games that will be bundled with the handheld has doubled from its original 12 to 24, and the Playdate now has a 4Gb of internal storage instead of 2GB.

The playdate was originally announced in 2019 with a slated 2020 release, but back in October, the company announced it had to delay the release to 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
