The upcoming Village could have VR support, too.
Resident Evil 7 is apparently going to receive the next-gen upgrade treatment.
That’s according to AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem aka a known and accurate leaker, who said on Twitter that Capcom was working on an upgrade for Resident Evil 7 for Microsoft and Sony’s new machines. They said that this was “100% happening,” but wasn’t revealed as part of the Resident Evil livestream that the Japanese publishing giant held yesterday, January 21.
There are no details yet about what the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S patches would introduce to Resident Evil 7, but it’s safe to assume that there will be a general graphical improvement for the already-gorgeous game, as well as the potential for the introduction of raytracing.
Dusk Golem also said that virtual reality was being worked on at one point for the upcoming Resident Evil Village, but they weren’t sure whether that was still in development. This is partly due to VR headsets requiring a high frame rate to stop motion sickness, something that might prove challenging in a game as visually intense as the next entry in the Resident Evil series.
Resident Evil 7 came to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in January 2017 before a Nintendo Switch version dropped in May 2018.
