The first trailer for Edgar Wright’s new movie, Last Night in Soho, has given us the first taste of the cult director’s upcoming horror flick, which involves a neat twist on time travel.

Due to release in theatres this October, the film will follow Thomasin McKenzie’s Eloise, a girl from modern day London who – as we see in the trailer – is transported back to 1965, just as Thunderball is in cinemas. It appears that while in this time period she’ll embody Anya Taylor-Joy’s Sandy, a singer in London’s Soho area. But with a dangerous looking figure played by Matt Smith, it seems like Eloise and Sandy’s exploits will lead them to danger.
Last Night in Soho is directed by Edgar Wright, who’s last movie was the ambitious musical getaway driver flick, Baby Driver. He has also penned the script, together with with Krysty Wilson-Cairns. Both have horror experience, with Wright having shot to fame on the back of his horror comedy Shaun of the Dead, while Wilson-Cairns was a writer on Penny Dreadful.
If you can’t wait until October for horror, then Netflix has you covered: the Fear Street trilogy from R.L. Stine will debut this July. Or, if you want your horror with a healthy dose of action, Army of the Dead is available now.
