An Apex Legends update has introduced penalties for those who leave the new 3v3 Arenas game mode.
A tweet from the Respawn Entertainment account revealed players will now incur a 10-minute lockout penalty if they abandon an Arenas game.
Players will be warned about the abandonment penalty before they leave, and it only applies if the leaver is in a full squad when they depart the game. Players who are unfortunate enough to be partied up with an abandoning player will not be punished for abandoning the game after them.
Players have been requesting this feature since the introduction of Arenas mode, with this post on Reddit from user azj4t explaining why it’s such an important introduction. “in Arenas mode, my enemies always disconnect when I win the first round, and then there’s only one or two person left in their team – that just feels really unfair,” the post reads. Other players like Z0MBRA1NS echoed the same sentiments at the start of the month. “the second you lose 1 round you’re now doing a 1v3, there hasn’t been 1 game that my teammates stayed in the game after we lost a round,” the post reads.
Other updates to Arenas include a fix for an exploit that allows users to unlock upgrades without having the materials to do so, as well as various bugs and errors. Beyond Arenas, this update has restored the slow effect incurred when players run into Wattson’s fences, and tweaked Valkyrie’s ultimate so that players can’t quickly activate and cancel the ability. A number of stability fixes have also arrived in the game with this latest update.
